ALBUM REVIEW: Chris Stapleton's 'From A Room Volume 2'

June 2024 · 1 minute read

Earlier this month US country music megastar Chris Stapleton returned with his second installment of the ‘From A Room’ album series. The new record infuses country with soul to make for a relaxed mix of stripped back tunes.

The LP kicks off with the soulful ‘Millionaire’ which emphasises Stapleton’s gorgeous vocal ability and the production adds another level. To look at Chris you would never guess he possess a voice with this much depth and soul but he has levels that many other male country artists could only ever dream of possessing.

But it’s not just stripped back ballads that feature on ‘From A Room Volume 2‘ as the toe-tapping, old school country throwback ‘Hard Livin’ is a real standout on the album. It has a great honkeytonk vibe to it and is one of my personal favourites off the record.

Other standouts on the LP include the stunning ‘Nobody’s Lonely Tonight’, the stripped back ‘A Simple Song’ and the catchy ‘Friendship’.

Overall Chris Stapleton’s new album ‘From A Room Volume 2’ is a great mix of country, bluegrass and soul that blend together to make sweet, sweet music.

RATING: 3/5/5
